The InMotion Matariki Parade has been suspended for 2020 due to Covid19
InMotion Matariki is an accessible illuminated parade which celebrates Matariki: the Māori New Year. We have suspended the parade for 2020 but we look forward to rolling together again in 2021
Each winter participants decorate their bicycles and wheelchairs, and enjoy pockets of performance as they roll through Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter.
The parade is created and presented by Touch Compass, New Zealand’s leading inclusive professional performing arts organisation combining artists with and without a disability.
InMotion Matariki Parade appeals to a diverse audience, which includes: children, families, creative types, the cycling community, and the disability community. It stands out as one of few large scale public events available to Aucklanders, and visitors to the region, in the depths of winter.
InMotion Matariki Parade 2019 was proudly presented as part of Auckland’s Matariki Festival, and Elemental AKL, Auckland’s new winter festival, on Saturday 6th July 2019.
